See the baby woke up this morning throwing up -- poor little thing. It can't be helped and she's been so sweet and pitiful, but sickness is taxing and it's taking the payload from my ability to focus. Oh, it would be nice if I didn't have anything to do. I could have taken a nap with her this morning and lounged around on the couch to watch cartoons and read her books (and I've done some of that)... but see, I have this paper due:
Media Depiction of Latinidad: Traditional, Redefined, & Cultural Other
I gave it this great pretentious title because I'm good at that, but I am just stuck on my material. The one I've been struggling with most wasn't written as well as I think it could have been. It felt like it was really reaching to support it's theories and there are a lot of hangups on gender which I'm not supposed to be using for my "ethnic identity" paper. There's a lot of really awesome stuff in there about stereotypes and cultural assimilation, but in summarizing I'm having a hard time including that without all this crazy female archetype stuff. Once I get this summary done, I have another one to do and then write my analysis and opinions of how Latina/o and Hispanic people are ethnically identified and how they communicate in the U.S. with citations from the book (that I've flipped through so many times on my nook that I don't know what chapter I'm on anymore).
Frankly, I am just very tired today and have a snuffly nose of my own. I spent my early morning cleaning vomit out of the carpet and the rest of the morning walking back and forth to clean the baby up after more throwing up and staring at my computer like it's an alien brain sucker (because it kind of did that to me). And now, exhausted, bored, stifled, lost, confused and with my poor sick baby now asleep on my left arm (yes I can still type like that - it's an art I perfected while nursing) just 20 minutes before I have to go pick up my other daughter... I want to just give in.
I have until tomorrow at noon and with a sick baby all my plans have been cancelled, so I'm sure I have time to finish. I'm just not sure I have the patience.
My husband and all my faithful friends out there are rolling their eyes at me now because they'll say "you CAN do it, you ALWAYS do and you'll get a *bleep* 'A' when you do it..." but it doesn't mean it's not hard for me to get there. So off to get the daughter that's not sick (wondering if I should make her wear a mask at home) and debate on taking a nap when I get back to see if I can restore or refresh a bit. Hopefully this blog makes sense because I'm still feeling a bit disjointed.
