Pumpkin Patch

I love the fall. My kids love the fall (I know because they keep reminding me in the car every morning); it's just that change in lighting and temperature. I love pulling out the long sleeves but not being trapped under them - as seems to happen as winter progresses. It's just beautiful. So I was very happy to neglect some of my school duties to indulge in some dayschool Pumpkin Patch, and a bit of seasonal garden deconstruction.

The pumpkin patch is special, but different every year for the last few years. The kids used to go to Meringo Creek Farms in Alabama, but they shut down :(. Last year we had crafts and games over at the school and it was CRAZY. It kind of wasn't so much fun because the kids needed so much help and got bored and distracted. This year was simple. Pose with the pumpkins, hear a Halloween themed story, get face painted and then do all the crafts and pumpkin carving with the class back inside.

We have yet to pick out out family pumpkins, but that time is coming. It's going to be a busy month because we'll be doing parties, haunted house, trick or treating, events downtown... I've already been kicked out of the garage for our annual Haunted House that my husband builds.  It's exciting, well except the midterms that are coming up next week.

But as I mentioned this is really one of my favorite times of year so to heck with some of the responsibilities. It's cool out, I'm going to work in my garden as much as possible and I'm going to enjoy this time with the kids and the friends and family that are coming. (And watch ANOTHER horror movie with my husband tonight) It's the beginning of the holiday season and whatever your opinions about Halloween, to us it's about fun and family... so you're welcome to come have a good fright with us.

By the way, in the Halloween mood, Phil the Realtor (see his blog over there -->) has changed his real estate blogs to reflect some spooky happenings in October. Have a laugh and check them out... you might learn something.
